Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara is one of the main incarnations of Avalokiteshvara venerated in Tibetan Buddhism, and together with Manjushri and Vajrapani, is referred to as the "Three Protectors," symbolizing compassion, wisdom, and power, respectively. Its image is pure white like a snow mountain, with four arms: the two central hands are joined at the chest, holding a Mani jewel, symbolizing the union of compassion and wisdom; the upper right hand holds a crystal rosary, representing the ceaseless salvation of sentient beings; the upper left hand holds a white lotus (Ubala flower), symbolizing the pure and undefiled Bodhicitta. He is often depicted seated in vajra posture on a lotus and moon throne, wearing a five-Buddha crown and heavenly garments, adorned with jewels all over. The "four arms" of Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara carry profound meaning, representing the complete practice of the "four immeasurables" of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Its famous six-syllable mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" condenses the essence of all Buddhist teachings and is called "the quintessence of the Buddhas' compassion." Practitioners recite this mantra to purify the heart, awaken their innate compassionate nature, and ultimately receive the blessings and salvation of Avalokiteshvara.
